About the Role

Flocean is developing the world’s first subsea desalination systems — a new generation of seawater reverse osmosis technology that operates on the seabed, using the natural pressure of the deep ocean. We are now looking for a Senior Subsea Design Engineer to join our small, multidisciplinary team in Oslo, Norway.

The Senior Subsea Design Engineer will lead and execute design tasks (concept & detailed design) and related drawing work for subsea modules and supporting structures that house process and utility equipment such as valves and filtration units. The design tasks also include mechanical design of manifolds, umbilical termination assemblies, flow line end terminations, mudmats/suction piles, and more. You will work closely with specialists in process, electrical, and controls to ensure that all components are designed for manufacturability, installation, and safe ROV intervention.

The position suits an engineer with a strong background in subsea structure design and an eye for detail – someone who enjoys solving complex mechanical and operational challenges, from foundation layout and lifting design to retrieval systems and ROV tooling.

Key qualifications and experience:

B.Sc or M.Sc within mechanical engineering or relevant degree
Design of subsea production and/or process structures (minimum 5 years)
Design of seabed foundation structures based on seafloor bathymetry, soil, and geological data (minimum 5 years)
Strong competence in design for installation, lifting, and ROV intervention; considering vessel capabilities and sea state data limitations (minimum 5 years)
Skilled in 3D design using OnShape and/or Solid Works and PDM
Experience preparing manufacturing documentation, drawings, and fabrication specifications
Finite Element Analysis (SolidWorks Simulation Premium)
Coordinate interfaces towards other work packages (controls, power supply, pumps, process equipment)
